Words Used to Describe Body Parts Can Be Funny....Go With it!

The attention-grabbing title of my second book is The Penis Pop-Up Book. It was written for a child audience but will intrigue readers of all ages. Many parents want to educate their children on their changing bodies but lack confidence in how to approach the subject. Many young boys have questions about their penis but often feel like it is taboo to bring them up. These common dilemmas are exactly why this book was written. It helps to normalize the experience of having a penis and getting erections. This book will empower and educate boys as well as provide comedic relief. The humor throughout the book enhances the reading experience but does not take away from the message. The Penis Pop-Up Book covers basic topics like; erections at unexpected moments, appropriate and inappropriate things to do with your penis, and the uniqueness of your own penis. 

This book is short, simple to read, yet very important. Even though most experts agree with using correct terminology, I have found that many people feel uncomfortable with the word penis. This needs to change. If we truly want our children to be able to speak correctly, we as adults need to lead by example in using correct terms ourselves. Parents know that they need to talk about puberty and body safety, but because it’s such an intimate topic, many feel intimidated.  These parents don’t know where to start or even avoid these conversations all together out of fear that they will mess up. My hope is that this book will give these parents the courage they need to get started with this important responsibility.
